BRAD PICKETT has announced the first athletes to compete on Rise of Champions: 2 on April 23, 2016.
Pickett, alongside his long-time coach, Mickey Papas, set up Rise of Champions (ROC) in 2015, and held their first event in October at City Pavilion, Romford. Now the duo have laid the foundations for their second event at the venue – with a strong focus on amateur talent.
“We have always been clear that the point of this show is to nurture up and coming talent, encouraging young athletes to step into the cage for the first time and to find their footing as they progress through their amateur – and professional – careers. I’m thrilled to say that we have a good handful of amateurs making their debut at ROC this time around. Too many people write off the amateur undercards, but for me, it’s potentially more exciting – there’s a lot of raw talent out there.”
With the majority of a strong amateur undercard already confirmed, ROC will also have a professional main card on their April show. The headlining bout will be champion vs. champion, as UCMMA‘s current middleweight title holder, Mike Shipman (7-1) takes on Ultimate Impact‘s reigning middleweight champ, Craig White (9-6).
“As with the last event, we’ll have the card topped by professional athletes.” continues Pickett. “We still have a handful of fights still to announce but we already have an exciting headline fight confirmed with Mike Shipman vs. Craig White – a true clash of champions!”
